The acting chairwoman of the Martin Luther King Jr. Institute for Nonviolence has resigned, leaving yet another void in the leadership of the embattled state-funded group.
Carol Lister, a Republican appointed to her board post by Gov. Mario M. Cuomo, declined to specify what made her quit the institute, which has been under investigation for much of the past year for a host of alleged improprieties.
"I'm just not happy with the way some things are going," she said. "I just have had enough."
