Qld: Second Gateway Bridge announced

BRISBANE, Feb 17 AAP - The Queensland government today announced plans to duplicate
the Gateway Bridge over the Brisbane River.

Transport Minister Paul Lucas said work on the second Gateway Bridge would begin next
year and was expected to be completed in 2011.

The new bridge will be built near the existing bridge, which opened in 1986.

The Gateway Bridge is part of the Gateway Motorway which links the Gold Coast and Sunshine
Coast and is a major connecting road to Brisbane Airport.
